Guided Journal: What Makes You A Leader?

What Makes You A Leader?

Introducing a guided journal for kids about leadership! What Makes You A Leader? is a guided journal that helps kids understand what it means to be a leader and that they are capable of leading. Leadership is not about achieving a certain status. It is not about having authority over people by virtue of a title. Leadership is about how we conduct ourselves on a daily basis. A child who is confident, owns their power, and treats others with fairness is a leader.

Stacey’s journals are a must for helping kids develop social emotional skills. As a home educator, I work use Stacey’s programs… I was so excited to get my hands on this newest addition. It is as good as anticipated! The book helps kids identify what a leader is, the importance of being a leader, and ways to step up as a leader. I especially love the story about the girl who was recognized by her school as a leader!

As CEO of a national women’s networking organization, I am responsible for finding, developing, and training leaders to support our community. After reading “What Makes You A Leader?” it struck me that much of what Stacey Montgomery is teaching our children serves as great reminders to us as adults in leadership roles.

As a mom of three teenagers and as a CEO, I value communication, respect, teamwork, and gratitude. This guided journal was able to not only list these as important qualities of a leader, but also explain how and why they are so important. Bringing awareness to traits such as listening, dependability, and volunteering, takes emphasis off of some of the more negative traits of leadership such as bossiness and being a know-it-all.

I am confident this guided journal will support the budding leaders in our children today and guide them as they grow into strong, fair, and dependable adults.
