Uncover a bit of history with this ca. 1600-1800 AD Dutch VOC Copper Duit Coin Ring set in Sterling Silver. These coins are referred to as the "First New York Penny". Produced by the Dutch India Co. for use in the spice trade they were originally minted in the Netherlands. They are still found in the Dutch DOC shipwreck sites & former VOC colonies. From their start they were widely circulated in the Netherlands and their South Asian colonies but also became well established in New Amsterdam, later New York City. It's a piece to enjoy today and for many years to come!
